Launched in 1925, this is a classic, timeless, refined, oriental fragrance that is inspired by the love story of Mumtaz Mahal, Shah Jahan, and the building of the Taj Mahal. One of Guerlain's most popular and best selling fragrances, it is also the most iconic, romantic and feminine. With the exception of cedar, the top notes are almost exclusively citrus, including Mandarin orange, lemon and bergamot. The heart is mostly floral with May rose, iris, and jasmine, accompanied by vetiver and patchouli. The base is warm and opulent, with musk, opoponax, civet, incense, tonka bean, sandalwood, leather, and vanilla. It is a great evening fragrance, in fall or winter.
